The Great War

'The Great War' or "World War One' is one of the greatest tragedies of human history. The pitiful waste of life; destruction of nations, cities, communities, and families for the first time so widespread it spanned the globe. Yet this war would have far greater effects and lasting impacts that no one could have foreseen.

Lest We Forget

About this Web Page

This webpage is dedicated to the Sacrifice of our Men & Women in uniform, as well as those of our Allies and the often-overlooked civilians, be it in combat zones or the home front.

All sacrificed something and many made the ultimate sacrifice to secure our future.

"All gave some, some gave all."

This page in no way looks for the glorification of war, rather it looks to glorify the willingness to sacrifice, the ability to weather this extreme experience and to raise awareness of what was sacrificed then to give us what we have now.

The Great War Timeline

The timeline aims to be the most complete & comprehensive list of events of World War 1 ever. Although our focus is primarily to do with Australian events & actions of the war, they would be meaningless without the greater context.

We aimed to include every battle, skirmish, raid, and siege to impress not only the vastness of the war but also the key role played by all.

This is also done in part because during the war Australian troops often felt sidelined by the Allied Media during the war, thus we aim to shine a light on every corner of the conflict.
